Originally designed in the 1930s based on the "Sac à Croix" horse-feed bag, it gained popularity in 1956 when photos of Monaco's Princess Grace Kelly using it to conceal her pregnancy became a sensation. In 1977, it was officially renamed the "Kelly." There are two types distinguished by their stitching: the "Retourné" (or "inner stitch"), which offers a softer impression, and the "Sellier" (or "outer stitch"), which provides a more structured look.
